Woolmens' Annual Sheep Drive
28th September 2025Southwark Bridge
I and 1200 other Freemen of the City of London exercised our right to drive sheep across 'London Bridge'. Due to traffic issues, in recent times the drive was moved from London Bridge to Southwark Bridge to accommodate such high demand.
The first drive was led by 'Countryfile' Adam Henson, the Lord Mayor and Master Woolman David Hopkins. The day was meticulously organised by the Woolman Company. The members of the Guild of Young Freeman were magnificent in wrangling such a large number of Freemen. I think the sheep were far easier to marshal and manage.
A livery Fair and craft stalls were set up between the registration office at the intersection of Cloak Lane and Queen Street and the Bridge. Many Livery crafts were demonstrated with additional private stalls. There were a handful of food stalls; I did not try the lamb burgers, which were reported to be excellent.
A great day, I encourage you to take part in groups or individually.
