Kellys Bronze Turkey farm visit

13th September 2025

Guests of the Master Poulterer Paul Kelly

Masters and Consorts were invited to a day on the turkey farm of Master Poulter Paul Kelly to celebrate 499 years of the turkey in this county.

After a tour of the breeding and production areas of the farm, we were given lunch in one of the barns. During the tour we were told of the high-end processes used to produce a Kelly's Bronze turkey, and then at lunch, we were taught how to cook and carve one. Many myths were busted, now many a Christmas dinner will have an extra bit of magic to make it more memorable.

This was followed by a trip to the woods to see adult birds fattening for the winter, free to roam and roost in the woodland.
