    Master Mariners Lunch

  • Master Mariners Lunch Cutlers Hall

Master Mariners Lunch

24th March 2025

Cutlers Hall

The Honourable Company of Master Mariners were kind enough to invite our Clerk Sandra and I to their Livery Court Luncheon at Cutlers Hall.

There were over 100 diners at the lunch, including many Master Mariners, other Livery Masters and Clerks, and we all enjoyed a fine meal, with some very interesting conversations, particularly on the subject of Apprenticeships, which the Master Mariners still organise.

The speeches were most interesting, including a tribute to the current Clerk of the Master Mariners who is moving on to Trinity House. He gave a most amusing rhymed speech, about life in the Master Mariners....

The Master Mariner, Lt Cmdr Les Chapman, also welcomed the new Clerk, Mike Jenkins, who is joining from the Environmental Cleaners. He will have a large job on his hands, as the next Master of the HCMM will be the Duke of Edinburgh and the HCMM is also intent on building themselves a new floating hall!
