American Songbook Concert
19th March 2025Guildhall School of Music and Drama
We attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Principal's Guest Night of the Spring Season, around the American Songbook Concert.
Performed by a group of Music pupils from the school, who normally study opera, the concert included works by Berlin, Porter, Alrlen & Mercer, Bacharach and others alongside British composers such as Noel Gay, Noel Coward and others. As such, it was a way for the young singers to "let their hair down" by singing different styles of song from usual.
As one might expect, the quality of the performances, including dance as well as song, was extraordinary and the singers clearly enjoyed theri work.
Afterwards we joined the cast and other guests for a reception, where we met some other Livery members.
Although none of our scholars were performing, it is a tremendous privilege to see such talented young artists and know that our contributions to the school are well worth it.
