Trial & Error

18th March 2025

Old Bailey

This year the Worshipful Company of Tobacco Pipe Makers and Tobacco Blenders sponsored one of the twenty five scenes that made up the Intolerance Trial & Error 2025 performance, put on at the Old Bailey. The vignettes are each based around actual trials that have happened over the last 400 years and this year's theatrics looked at different manifestations of Intolerance as they have happened over the years.

The scene that we sponsored was titled "The Bawdy House Riots 1668 (Part 2)", in which our very own Fiona Adler played Damaris Page, the Madame in the dock. Clearly, Fiona was enjoying herself, dressed entirely differently from her normal sober garb!

After a reception in the upstairs hall with many other Livery friends, we found our seats in Court no 1 and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening watching the acting, dancing and singing talents of the legal profession on display. All the participants are to be thoroughly congratulated for putting on such a wonderful money raising event. May it continue on for many years!
