Firefighters Court Lunch
14th March 2025Guildhall
Professor David Holt, the Master of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters, was kind enough to invite me to the Firefighters Court lunch, held in the private dining room in the West Wing of the Guildhall.
This was a most enjoyable occasion, with good food and some interesting conversations. Most of the diners were or are professional firefighters, many now in senior positions in the London and other fire brigades, and included new members of the company who had been through their Freeman or Liveryman ceremonies in the morning.
The Firefighters run the Modern Liveries float in the Lord Mayor's parade which they do with great panache, but it was nice to have the opportunity to have some fascinating discussions with members of their company without having to watch out for the horse manure in the street!
