Poulters Dinner

19th November 2024

Saddlers Hall

Earlier in the year, Carolyn attended a consort event organised by the Poulters, based around a session with the Horseheard charity. This charity specialises in giving people with mental issues the chance to freely interact with horses and this appears to significantly help them. They do not use specially trained horses, and the horses are completely free to come and go as they wish without restraint.

We have seen from our own horses behaviour how they can help troubled children - nobody appears to know why these interactions work, but work they do!

Naturally most of the consorts who attended the Horseheard event had some connection with horses, like ourselves, so as a follow up, the Master and Mistress Poulter invited us to their Livery and Court dinner, held at the Saddlers Hall. The event was horse themed, and we therefore sat on a dinner table sprig, which was largely filled with those who had attended the original event, or had horse connections.

After a fine reception and dinner, we were entertained by the guest speaker Vicky Bennett, the CEO of the Horseheard charity, the Master Poulter and others who have worked with the charity.

It was a lovely evening and it was also nice for a change for the Livery Masters to be going along as a "+1" to our Consorts.
