Young Stationers Ball

15th November 2024

Stationers Hall

Amongst the many contacts and friends that Carolyn has made in the Livery movement is Emily Dexter, one of the organisers of the Young Stationers Mid-Winter Ball. In the spirit of trying get as many younger generation people as possible involved the Livery movement, Carolyn persuaded several youngsters, including my cousin's daughters, to attend.

Although neither young nor Stationers, we therefore decided to go along as well to join in the fun, being the only Master and Consort there other than the Master Stationer. We therefore got an honourable mention in the Master's after dinner speech!

It was a wonderful evening, with an excellent buffet meal, and we had great fun playing the elder statesman/woman! Of course Carolyn was in her element introducing people to each other and moving them around between courses to ensure individuals met as many people as possible!

Although the Stationers Livery is much bigger than the Pipe Makers, and they therefore have a lot of young members, maybe the Pipe Makers should contemplate something similar to try and get more people into the Livery movement?
