Musicians Evensong
2nd October 2024St Pauls
Fourth Warden Terry Fenner-Leitao and I attended the annual Musicians Company Evensong at St Pauls. After being helped to robe by the Beadle in the OBE Chapel, we processed upstairs for the service, in company with Masters and Wardens from about 60 other Livery Companies.
It is a fine service to go to, with some good hymns and anthems, ending up as always with the Elegy for Strings by Elgar, played by the Royal College of Music String Orchestra. The Elegy is played in memory of Musician Company Members who have passed away during the year and whose names are read out during the service.
The service is followed by a reception held downstairs where we finished off the evening with drinks and chats with other members of the congregation.
