The Worshipful Company of Cooks of London Court Summer Dinner

The Worshipful Company of Cooks of London Court Summer Dinner

12th June 2024

The current Master and Consort of the Cooks Livery, Paul and Nora Galpin, are old family friends of Carolyn's and they were kind enough to invite us to their Court Summer Dinner at the Tallow Chandlers Hall on Wednesday 12th.

Unfortunately things did not quite go as planned, as Carolyn had to rush up to Yorkshire to see her father who had to go to hospital, and Paul Galpin himself was taken ill the night before the dinner. Two of the main protagonists were therefore out of action, so the top table was somewhat thinned out!

(Both patients fortunately appear to be on the mend.)

However, I had a delightful evening being kept company by Nora Galpin and Cooks IPM Virginia Bond, so all was not lost!

As one would expect the food was wonderful and the evening was rounded off by some fabulous after dinner singing by Guildhall School of Music Students Zoe Jackson (Soprano) and Hector Bloggs (Baritone), accompanied by fellow student Emelia Wilkinson on the piano. Several pieces were sung including parts of Figaro and quite possibly an adapted Monty Python song!

Thank you to the Cooks for a delightful evening!
