Distillers’ Tutored Whiskey Tasting and Buffet Supper

Distillers’ Tutored Whiskey Tasting and Buffet Supper

17th November 2023

Guildhall

Everyone needs a friend with knowledge! Chris Searle, Master of the Distillers is such a man. He hosted a wonderful whiskey tasting in the Guildhall Dining Room in order to share his expertise; but, equally importantly the techniques used by the great professionals themselves. I sat across from the Sheriff of the City of London: Alderman Bronek Masojada. He had to leave early; so, created his own programme - he went straight to the oldest and best!!!! For those of us who enjoyed a memorable evening sipping and dining, our experience was more calculated. I shall now defer to Master Distiller’s notes to fully and accurately share the experience!

Jonathan Wilson , Distillery Manager at Aberfeldy was the tutor for our session.
Jonathan also oversees the e-commerce site as well as the Tours programme.
Aberfeldy is one of the best visitor distillery centre in Scotland.
If you are ever passing through near Perth, worth a detour!
India Blanche is the UK Scotch Whisky Brand Ambassador covering Dewars Scotch and the portfolio of single malts of which Aberfeldy, Royal Brackla, Craigellachie are the more prominent.
WE tasted Dewars 16 year double matured blended Scotch, 12 yo ,18 yo and 25 yo Aberfeldy malts.
The last one is limited in stock hence the retail of £500 per bottle!
Master Chris Searle is obviously biased as he worked on Dewar’s during his 28 year sojourn with Bacardi and loves these whiskies , although he also recommended a Glenmorangie 18 yo if you like a lighter whisky.
If you are ever in Edinburgh , a visit to the Johnny Walker Experience on Princes Street is well worthwhile.

Fortunately for all the Masters in attendance including Master Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers, Master Fletcher, Master Turner and myself , Master Distiller generously brought Perth and Edinburgh to us!!
