    St Paul’s Cathedral Remembrance Service

St Paul’s Cathedral Remembrance Service

12th November 2023

St Paul’s Cathedral

What a difference a day makes. Yesterday I was walking the streets of the City of London in jubilation during the Lord Mayor’s Show with Senior Warden Henry Tuck and Consort and Freeman William Rasmussen by my side. Today the gold carriage was nowhere to be seen outside St Paul’s Cathedral. Instead I joined my fellow Masters in a tribute of Remembrance to those whose lives were cut short, as they perished serving our Country in the pursuit of Freedom. The emotional service was led by Andrew Tremlett, Dean of St Paul’s. Amidst prayers for peace, we were reminded of wars around the world that continue to this day. The experience was made even more sobering as after the service, we Masters walked through the streets to the London Troops War Memorial, located in front of the Royal Exchnage. It was here that the Lord Mayor joined Veterans of war to lay wreaths and bow in silent commemoration of fallen friends and comrades: heroes all.
