Lunch with the new Lord Mayor

Lunch with the new Lord Mayor

11th November 2023

Mansion House

I walked up the red carpeted stairs and immediately spotted Andrew Tremlett from St Paul’s Cathedral and his amazing wife, Maggi Dawn. We stopped and talked for a few minutes before I made my way to the coat rack placed on the second floor today for ease of use. Once derobed, I spotted Master Broderer and Master World Trader and we found a spot amidst the great and the good, family and friends, colleagues and sponsors who had been in invited to join the Lord and the Lady Mayoress for their first official lunch after being blessed at St Paul’s by Andrew Tremlett. It was a lively lunch full of discussions about our year in office and the new Lord Mayor. It was a time capsule of the variety of individuals and collective groups who make up our bustling City of London Community. After lunch I had a chat with Felicity Lyons, whose last official dinner in the Egyptian room as Lady Mayoress was Monday of this past week and our Banquet! We had spoken of her grandchildren and how much they had enjoyed dashing round Mansion House. I told her how fantastic I thought it was when she held one of her youngest grandchildren up earlier today so he could get a better view of the parade. She laughed and was full of ease and grace. Nicholas Lyons arrived in the hallway and thanked me for a lovely evening at our Banquet. There are so many pinch me moments when one is a Master. The combination of privilege, professionalism and grand parenthood collide to create long lasting memories and friendships.
