Lord Mayor’s Show Return Procession Viewing

Lord Mayor’s Show Return Procession Viewing

11th November 2023

Mansion House

Once the Livery Companies and businesses have made their way to the end of the line so to speak, everyone separates for some refreshments prior to making our way literally back to the beginning. On this occasion I made my way backwards through the now silent streets as onlookers themselves were enjoying picnics and local cuisine. I had the privilege of being selected to watch the proceedings from Mansion House and to be one of the Masters to officially welcome the new Lord Mayor, and first American, as he arrived at Mansion House. This was of course after Master Cooper greeted him with a casket of rum! But, first I must make my way stealthily past the revellers and take my place under the balcony. It was slightly surreal having walked the square mile to the rush of onlookers and high fives to sitting in such a sophisticated setting and being waved to!! I was able to get some stunning photographs and it was exciting to actually see the floats, bands and other participants. Typically we only see those who are in our immediate area. What a fantastic event the Lord Mayor’s Show is!!! This year was indeed a credit to Lord Mayor Michael Mainelli and the many friendships he has cultivated over the years. It was an honour to stand in line with Master Draper and other chosen Masters to bow to the new Lord Mayor and his entourage and welcome him to his new home. The Lord Mayor’s Show is a magnificent way to celebrate what promises to be a great year at Mansion House and the City of London.
