    Lady Masters Association Lunch

Lady Masters Association Lunch

12th October 2023

Trinity House

It was a privilege to attend the Lady Master’s Association‘s 40th Anniversary lunch. Dame Fiona Woolf was the honoured speaker and shared stories of her experiences as the Second Lady Mayor of the City of London in 2013-2014. I was particularly fascinated by her recollections of visits to Buckingham Palace. Dame Fiona remarked on the absence of female Lord Mayors over the past ten years and her anticipation that our current Sheriff, Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley will rise to that position in the coming years.

Dame Fiona is currently the Master of the Worshipful Company of Wax Chandlers while her husband Nicholas Woolf is Master of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners: a dynamic duo!!! Dame Fiona juggles her obligations as Master with many charitable commitments. She was a trustee of Raleigh International 2010–2016,and a governor of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is also President of the Chelsea Opera Group Trust, and is actively involved in the operation, fundraising and co-ordination of its volunteers, as well as being a member of its choir and a Trustee of the Wexford Festival Opera Trust. I am delighted to be a Member of the Lady Master’s Association. I hope our ranks continue to grow in the years ahead!
