Evensong at St James Garlickhythe

11th October 2023

St James Garlickhythe

St James Garlickhythe was the location for the Choral Evensong All Hallows Service hosted by The Worshipful Company of Parish Clerks. It was an honour to be invited by their Master and to hear our own Honorary Liveryman, Alderman Sir Andrew Parmley play the organ, including the magnificent Lefebure-Wely Sortie in B. An added treat was a tour by Andrew in the gallery above the narthex and the opportunity to see the initials carved in the wood centuries ago.

I am always in awe of Ministers singing the Collect and Prayer during Evensong. Tonight was amazing as The Reverend Nicholas Mottershead never took a breath! It was truly a beautiful and memorable service.
