Sevenoaks Reception

29th June 2023

Sevenoaks School

In sports one would say, it is participation that counts, in this case, I would rely on the adage: Better late than never. I was in very good time when I arrived at Farnborough Main Station en route to London Waterloo East, where I would meet Court Assistant Terry Fenner- Leitao. Together we would venture back to Terry’s alma mater for a Reception for supporters of this illustrious school that our company has been associated with for many years. Past Master Andrew Golding amongst others are alumni. Life is what happens when you make a plan and it fails miserably. Apparently an unfortunate incident in Basingstoke ended my hopes of a short train journey to the City. Never mind I thought when I consulted my stat nav and realised the school was a short journey of slightly over an hour by car. I shall arrive in time to explore!!!! Well, after four hours being detoured on and off the M25, Terry had sampled all of the canapés and I had sampled none. Hands had been shook with Founders who were on site following a meeting and even the American born and bred headmaster was about to dash. Fortunately not before I managed to find my sea legs and the gazebo! Jesse Elzinga was charming and aware of the close ties between our Company and the school. I look forward to a longer conversation hopefully on 5th December, when their brilliant choir will perform during the Carol Service. Given that Jesse is a renowned cyclist, runner and rower, he may wish to travel by his own steam!
