Clergy Support Trust Festival Service
9th May 2023St Paul's Cathedral
The 368th Clergy Support Trust Festival Service was held at St Paul’s Cathedral and attendees included the Lord Mayor and Mayoress, the Dean of St Paul’s, the Bishop of Gloucester, along with Sheriffs, Aldermen of the City of London, and many Masters, Prime Wardens, Upper Bailiff – perhaps not as many as usual due to a date clash with the second Garden Party at Buckingham Palace!
Music was provided by the brilliant Choirs of St Paul's Cathedral, Leicester Cathedral and Llandaff Cathedral.
From a couple of Testimonies, we heard of how the Clergy Support Trust had given much needed support to a Rector and Archdeacon – both of whom expressed their sincere thanks; and the Sermon, delivered by The Rt Rev Rachel Treweek, Bishop of Gloucester, centred on the need to support and serve – it was uplifting and positive. There are global challenges, cost of living pressures, ‘and yet’ the clergy continue with their good gospel – and this incredible charity supporting their cause – a charity that began in 1655!
A most moving service to a large audience and with the 3 choirs performing their own magic.
The Clergy Support Trust deserves support for its good works – our Benevolent Fund continues to contribute which is a blessing.
