His Majesty's Garden Party

3rd May 2023

Buckingham Palace

Masters and Prime Wardens, amongst others, were invited by HM The King to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Coronation on either 3 May or 9 May – the Mistress and I chose 3 May and it was a beautiful sunny afternoon!

At the initiative of Masters Plumbers and Weavers, we started with a lunch at the RAF Club – 8 Company Masters and Consorts present – before making a short walk to the Palace where King Charles and Queen Camilla were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh to welcome many (several thousand) guests into the immaculately manicured grounds. At 4pm the Royals paused at the top of the steps – with the National Anthem played by one of the two military bands present - before making their way down into the garden to meet the guests who had been carefully chosen for the honour.

While the bands continued to play a selection of music, Members of the Royal Family circulated among the guests through 'lanes'. Each took a different route and random presentations were made. We were well situated to get a few pics!

Members of the Royal Family then arrived at the Royal Tea Tent, where they met further guests whilst we indulged in a great selection of tea treats and a scroll through the beautiful Palace Gardens – alight with the colours of spring.

A special treat in the run up to Saturday’s Coronation.
