The Unsung Voices of The American Songbook

30th March 2023

Guildhall School of Music and Drama

Sharon and I accepted an invitation from the Guildhall School’s Principal, Jonathan Vaughan, to attend a ‘supporters evening’ concert – The Unsung Voices of the American Songbook’.

Directed by Sam Gale – a 23-year-old sixth year student, a cast of some some 80 students from 6 departments took to the stage.

This was a perfect example of collaboration, across disciplines, all for the love of the words and the music.

It made me appreciate the skill and talent at the school – seeing a production like this where they only had 3 days to rehearse!

A wonderful concert of songs supported by the Guildhall Studio Orchestra.

Jonathan said in his welcome that there has never been a time when funding to support the arts is so critical – and they fully appreciate the help from donors and sponsors – our company, through the Benevolent Fund, celebrates a 60 year relationship with the school next year! It's humbling to see the benefits.
