The Lord Mayor's Big Curry Lunch

30th March 2023

Guildhall

The Clerk and I represented the Company at the 16’th Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch – a spectacular event hosted by the LM at Guildhall, raising funds for our armed forces. This year the LM has chosen to focus the fundraise to benefit Pain Management and Lifeworks for army veterans. Through the Benevolent Fund, we make an annual contribution.

Representing the Royal Family were the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and we were privileged to be a part of the Royal Reception, before moving to the Diamond and Champagne bar, and surveying the various Livery stalls for good value – fruit, jerseys, blankets, books, leatherware, plants!

The day will have raised around £70K from the Silent Auction and Prize Draw, and I was delighted to see Sandra successfully bid on Lot no. 54 – a day for 4 with the City of London Mounted Branch at their training facility – the small print noting bring steel toe capped boots and clothing fit for dirt!

We enjoyed a delicious curry prepared and served by the army chef and catering team in the hall packed with hungry guests!

A lovely day and all for a great cause...with Master Elect Elise, Assistant Flora and Mistress Sharon also there!
