The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress Dinner for Livery Companies

23rd March 2023

Mansion House

The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress traditionally host a dinner for the Masters, Prime Wardens and Upper Bailiff of all Livery Companies at Mansion House, their home for the year – the Egyptian Hall packed with 350 guests was a true spectacle. It’s an opportunity to celebrate and cement their partnership with the Livery Companies during the Mayoral year.

The bodyguard were provided by the Pikemen and Musketeers of the HAC; music by the Salon Orchestra of the HAC; and the State Trumpeters from the Household Cavalry!

The Lord Mayor commended the pan Livery movement and its giving to good causes, along with its adaption to appropriate trends, and reconfirmed his themes and strategies for the year – and which he is driving with determination.

Responses, and toasts to The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, were delivered by the Master Mercer and Master Grocer – both giving great speeches with ample humour, and an amusing poem from the Master Grocer apparently drawn from AI’s Chat gpt – highlighting the pace of change in society and how the City needs to continue to innovate and adapt!

The Mistress and I enjoyed a memorable evening seated in and amongst the likes of the Gunmakers, Wheelwrights, Constructors, Entrepreneurs and Security Professionals.

The evening ended with an hilarious joke from the Lord Mayor - a true ambassador for the City of London!
