Modern Liveries' Dinner

13th March 2023

Brewers' Hall

The Modern Liveries’ Dinner takes place twice a year – in March and September – hosted, in turn, according to the precedence of the Modern Company.

This was the turn of The Arts’ Scholars (number 110) – with the baton for the next dinner passing to the oldest of the modern, Master Mariners.

Simple maths and we establish the Tobacco Pipe Makers and Blenders will be hosting the September 2025 dinner – it was therefore most appropriate that 3rd Warden Tony Scanlan attended with me – he should be Master when we host!

A lovely evening at Brewers’ Hall – for many of us the first time here – ideally suited to cater for 80 odd guests.

Our guest speaker was HH Judge Wendy Joseph, an Art Scholar Freeman and Master Pewterer. She gave a wonderful and amusing account of her lifetime at The Old Bailey, arriving there in 2012 (as the only woman amongst 16 Judges) and retiring in 2022 – and now back to her early love – story writing!

An evening amongst modern contemporaries – delightful company!
