Inter Livery Pancake Race

21st February 2023

Guildhall Yard

The Worshipful Company of Poulters welcomed participants from 30 Livery Companies to the 19th inter-livery pancake race at Guildhall Yard on Shrove Tuesday where conditions were perfect for racing!

This is a fabulous fund-raising event with profits going to the Lord Mayor's Appeal and The Poulters Pelican trust, helping good causes across the City.

The typical 4-man team comprises a Master, Liveryman (IPM Jerry Merton), Lady (Mistress) and Novelty (Snr Warden Elise R) – in our case powerful looking on paper but…

Our Clerk Sandra gave us all a lot of encouragement and ensured we were in place on time!

Elise was dressed in an appropriate and cleverly designed outfit reflecting the Lord Mayor’s charities and target to make London a better city for all.

Clad in gowns, aprons, hats and gloves contestants sprint Guildhall Yard, tossing a pancake against the clock.

Great fun followed by lunch in the Crypts…and no need to stay for prize giving!

Well done to the winners Furniture Makers and the Novelty costume winner The Water Conservators.

And thanks to the Pouters and their supporters.
