Actuaries Winter Livery Dinner
Thursday 26th January 2023
Goldsmiths' Hall
The Mistress and I received an invitation to The Worshipful Company of Actuaries Winter Livery Dinner at the awe-inspiring Goldsmiths’ Hall with its impressive stained-glass windows and majestic chandeliers!
The Master Actuary and Mistress have become great allies during our year!
The other Masters present were Glovers and Wax Chandlers.
It was great to see Alderman Alison Gowman who was guest speaker, and, as usual, delivered a great speech with much emphasis on the philanthropic nature of Livery Companies and the Lord Mayor's key 2023 themes – the 3 C’s – Children, Charity, Community. Alison also continues to champion the Livery Climate Action Group which has gained a lot of traction with over 60 Companies subscribing to the initiative.
Master Actuary responded with a pertinent and wonderful speech on technology, media and social media and how the world has changed!
I was seated next to Lady Samantha Bowman which ensured an evening full of interesting chat. Lady Bowman was Lady Mayoress 2017/18.
The highlight on a wonderful menu was the Loin of venison...and of course the wines!
Fabulous music provided by Oliver Lallemant (piano) and Daniel Kringer (tenor) ended formal dinner before retiring for the Stirrup Cup.
A lovely evening and with thanks to Master Keith Jones and his Consort Sandra Jones for inviting us.
