Furniture Makers' Christmas Dinner

East India Club

The Master and Mistress Furniture Makers, Anthony and Patricia Attard, kindly invited Sharon and I to their Christmas Dinner – a first for them and held at The East India Club (St James’s Square) where Anthony is a member.

We learnt that the club was founded in the middle of the 19th century, its original members being ‘the servants of the East India Company and Commissioned Officers of Her Majesty’s Army and Navy’.

Since those early days, the club has amalgamated with the The Sports Club in 1939, The Public Schools Club in 1972, and The Devonshire Club in 1976.

We had a wonderful evening in and amongst several Furniture Makers’ members and their guests.
