The Entrepreneurs’ Award in Social Innovation (EASI) is the brainchild of Judy Hadden, Master Entrepreneur (for another week!); and she kindly invited, amongst others, Masters and Clerks from all Companies.
They support early-stage entrepreneurs with funding, guidance, introductions and support – quite amazing work – and we got to hear from the winners and 3 runners up – all most grateful for the support they receive from the Company.
Alderman Sheriff Alastair King welcomed us (The Old Bailey being the Sheriff’s home for the year!).
The 2022 EASI winner is a company called Pastoral – focusing on providing an effective solution to the environmentally disruptive farming practices of poverty-stricken countries.
And one of the runners up, who got much attention from the audience, is Bristol Braille Technology – a not-for-profit organisation – developing advanced technology for the blind.
This was a stark reminder of the tremendous charitable work from the Livery Companies.
