Service of Remembrance
Sunday 13th November 2022
St. Paul's Cathedral
Livery Companies were invited to attend both the Service of Remembrance in St Paul’s Cathedral and the Wreath Laying at the War Memorial outside the Royal Exchange mid-morning through to midday.
Kindly organised and coordinated by The Fruiterers, The Senior Warden and I attended in company gowns, whilst consorts, spouses and friends were also welcomed.
The Lord Mayor, Sheriffs and Alderman were present too…and it was good to see PM Chris Allen on Cathedral duty and ensuring we were rightly seated!
It was a moving and beautiful service in memory and honour of those who have passed whilst in conflict.
Following the service, we processed down Cheapside to the Royal Exchange and assembled near to the Memorial.
The Lord Mayor laid the first wreath with the Master Fruiterer laying the last official wreath, on behalf of all Livery Companies.
We then had the privilege of watching the March Past by veterans and the Band of the HAC.
A most special event before joining other Livery Company representatives for lunch in the Aldermen’s dining room at Guildhall hosted by The Cook and The Butler.
