The Shamrock Ball - Irish Guards

Thursday 13th October 2022

Merchant Taylor's Hall

A table of 10 from The Tobacco Pipe Makers and Blenders was seated at ‘Norway 1940’ for the Shamrock Ball at Merchant Taylors’ Hall for the Irish Guards Charity fund raising evening event.

Master of ceremony Maj Robbie Wilmont, well known to many of us, orchestrated the night, with the Reg Band of the Irish Guards setting the scene for a colourful evening. It was fitting that he mentioned the recent passing of our Clerk’s Assistant, Alan Beggs – Alan being largely instrumental in helping to establish our association with the Irish Guards Association.

The singing waiters, Incognito, took us all by surprise and raised the Hall’s roof!

By all accounts a significant amount of funds was raised for the charity…PM Andrew Golding and Fourth Warden Jacqueline Burrows making it to the final stages of the guess the answer game!

For those late goers a casino and disco operated – unfortunately I cannot report on how that went!
