From Chevening to the Mansion House
Sunday 3rd November 2019
This week's highlights began with Chevening, a beautiful estate in Kent usually reserved for use by the Foreign Secretary. Our hosts were Robert Sackville West and his wife Jane. Robert is a Trustee of the Chevening Estate and will be our guest speaker at the January Dinner at Drapers' Hall.....I hope you have all reserved your places!? Chevening, built reputedly by Inigo Jones between 1617-1630, was long the home of the illustrious Stanhope family.
Another highlight was an "At Home" invitation to the Mansion House, courtesy of Lindy Estlin, the Lady Mayoress. The well-attended event marked the impending end of what has been a hugely successful year for the Mayoralty. Lindy has been superb in her role and we thank her for all that she has done for the Livery. It was a real treat for the Mistress and for me to be in the sumptuous surroundings of the Mansion House.
