Our Company's First Virtual Freedom of the City

15th June 2020

On Monday 15th June 2020, one of our Freemen, Kate Woodley, became the youngest Freeman of the City for today and Tuesday 16th June as there are no ceremonies until Wednesday 17th when Kate will lose her title and another lucky Freeman will become the youngest Freeman of the City for a short space of time. For our Company, it was our first Virtual Freedom of the City and as Clerk, I was invited to attend by Kate. Laura from the Chamberlain's Court carried out the Ceremony which was most enjoyable to watch and felt very special as there were only three of us and Teddy, of course, Kate's dog which tried to interrupt the proceedings a few times. Laura took it all in her stride! Congratulations to our Freeman Kate Woodley, the youngest Freeman of the City (until 17th June anyway)!
