Admission to the Freedom
Admission to the Freedom, both of the Company and of the City of London, is obtained in one of the following ways:
Candidates must be over the age of 21, and should have been known by their Proposers and Seconders (who must be Liverymen of the Company) for at least two years.
Admission to the Livery
Admission to the Freedom of the Company entitles the Candidate to make immediate
application for the Freedom of the City of London and, as soon as this has
been granted, may at once proceed to take up the Livery of the Company. (please
also refer to Obtaining
the Freedom of the City for further details). In so doing, will
be following in the traditions of the Livery Companies and their members who,
throughout the history of the City of London, have played an important part
in its government and administration.
Among many privileges enjoyed by Liverymen is that of attending Common Hall
in order to take part in the election of the Lord Mayor, the Sheriffs and
other Officers of the City of London
Membership of the Company is strictly regarded as being a commitment for
life.
